Training Thread So you want to play a Jedi...

On TheHolo.net, we don't care about experience points or skill points or enemies killed. We're more interested in telling a good yarn. That means character development over the long haul. We strongly recommend that newcomers to the Jedi Order start off with a Padawan or low-level knight so you can get a feel for our story universe while you grow your character. Start small, build relationships with other characters, go on some missions - building a character gradually can be immensely satisfying! Take a look at the Jedi Mission Holocron for examples of the sorts of adventures you can have as part of the Jedi Order.

HOWEVER, this is not necessary. You may begin with a Knight or Master, if your backstory makes sense. Also, if you have an established Knight or Master from another board that you wish to bring over to TheHolo.Net that is perfectly fine. Just make your backstory fit our board's timeline.

To get started, please head to the the Character Plotters forum and create a plotter for your character! You should also join the Jedi Order discussion group.

    Promotions
If you feel that your character is ready to become a Jedi Knight (or a Master), go to your training master or in the absence of your master to the Jedi Council or Faction Leaders. Once we know you feel your character is ready for promotion, we will come to an agreement on when that will happen. If your padawan has fallen through the cracks and doesn't have a lot of training or mission threads (which unfortunately can happen if a master goes MIA for an extended period of time), we may ask for you to do a promotion RP where your character shows they are capable of their new rank.

Your training master and the Council will also try to keep tabs on padawans and knights and hand out promotions as they see fit, but we do not always keep up on everything that you have been doing. Coming to us is perfectly acceptable.

You can promote yourself whenever you feel it is time. If you have a Master who is a PC, rather than an NPC, it would be appropriate to discuss it with them.

PM Serena Laran or Zem Vymes if you have questions about anything!
