Between Two Interrogation Droids: Kazahan

Rate this Entry
I recently had the opportunity to sit down and speak with Jedi Padawan Kazahan. Once I got him to sit still, we had a very good conversation. Here is a transcript of that interview on... Between Two Interrogation Droids

What is your main motivation to get up in the morning?

Hmm. Kazahan learned to rise early from the Rangers' training back home, but Kazahan's motivation to awaken and start the day? It is hunger.

[Kazahan gets up and finds a snack at this point]

Do you have living relatives?

Why, yes. Kazahan's family is fairly large. This one has a father, Gara, mother, Millingshi, and four younger siblings, Denginan, Kallain, Shongi, and Minenan.

How would you say your time with the Jedi has changed you? Are you committed to finishing your training?

Kazahan truthfully has changed a great deal from when this one first stepped onto Ossus. But the main qualities that define Kazahan are still there, mostly the same. And of course this one will finish training! It would be a shame to start such a journey only to leave the road a quarter of the way through.

When you are a Jedi knight, what will you do?

This one is confused. When this one is a Jedi Knight, this one will be doing the things Jedi Knights do. Perhaps negotiating settlements between planets, or rooting out corruption and thieves from the dark places of the galaxy. This one does not hope to be fighting a war. Wars are distressing.

Do you have friends?

Kazahan believes so. But many do not judge friendship the same way Kazahan does. Perhaps this one considers many to be friends who do not consider Kazahan to be a friend of theirs.

What do you feel your purpose is?

A deep question! You ask Kazahan to search deep within the soul for an answer that has not yet been found, this one fears, for this one does not know. Kazahan does not often think of purpose, or fate. If they are, they are, and this one will either live up to them or not. We will see.

And now a chat with the man behind the character

How long have you RP Kazahan?

I had to look it up actually, but since October of 2013 on the Holonet. Before that he was a Skyrim character that I had an elaborate backstory to, and when we started writing Skyrim stuff, I registered him for that, and decided to use him as a Jedi character also, which I didn't have at the time. He's still my only Jedi character.

Do you enjoy writing him?

I would hope so! If I didn't, I wouldn't be writing some of the stuff I am writing with him now. But yes, I do. He serves as a light hearted counterpart to a lot of my other writing on the boards.

In what way is Kazahan like you, and how is he different?

I'm absent minded and somewhat easily distracted. I think I'm a bit more serious in person than Kazahan is, and he is much more personable than I am by a long shot.

Do you make any writing/stylistic choices for Kazahan that make him distinct from other characters you write?

Kazahan speaks more flowingly and has longer sentences than most of my other characters, and he notices odd things about the world and people that I try and include in his posts. Of course, he also doesn't use the first person in any real circumstance.

Share something about Kazahan not many people may know.

Kazahan has killed quite a few people during his time as a Ranger, and I picture that as being quite scary, as he doesn't view life as very sacred in and of itself, so he's quite business like about it.
