When did you first see a Star Wars movie, and what movie was it?
The original showing of Return of the Jedi in 1983. I was two and a half years old, and I remember my mom taking me to a matinee showing at Bama Six Cinemas. We got there late so my first vivid memory of Star Wars was walking down the dark aisle watching Luke fight the Rancor. It was intense, and I was hooked that moment on.
Do you have any sort of Star Wars merchandise collection, and if so, what is your favorite piece?
I don't think I can call what I have a collection. It's not in any order, none of it's in original packaging. If it's toys, its probably missing missiles. If it's comics, the pages are probably bent. They're well-loved things I buy to enjoy and they inhabit their own ecosystem in my house. I guess the favorite star wars thing I own would be the Anakin Skywalker force FX lightsaber I got on discount at Best Buy for being a floor model. Thing is beat to shit, but it's my first froom-froom lightsaber, man!
Are you excited about Disney making Star Wars Anthology movies? Who do you want a spin-off movie about?I was decently excited around December 2014. I'm excited now to the point it's hard to focus on other crap in the day to day. I remember when the prequels came out and how orders of magnitude useless I became in school or work in the weeks leading up. Probably gonna happen like that again lol. Disney has gone absolutely whole hog on Star Wars and I've been really happy with the result of it so far. As far as spin-off, I really hope Rogue One is a Dirty Dozen in Space film. It's such a classic war film and I feel that what makes Star Wars so relate-able is that you find a lot of familiar archetypes and tropes littering its landscape. Aside from Rogue One, I don't really know. An early Han Solo film would be really fun.
How long have you been at TheHolo.Net, and why do you stay?
I've been at TheHolo.Net before it was SW-Fans. I used to post on Jawafortress.net message boards back in the run-up discussions about the Phantom Menace. So it's been almost exactly sixteen years for me. I stay because I've made lifelong friends in the pursuit of nerdy but incredibly creative stories. I think everyone here has grown as a storyteller and has taken pains to make a universe that feels every bit our own as it belongs to George Lucas. But going back to the friends. These are folks I've gone across the country to meet. Folks I've crossed oceans to meet. Folks who've done the same to hang out with me. That's tremendous friendship. I love hearing about your lives and what you're doing and spending time hanging out even if nothing's happening in particular. Lastly as most folks know, I met my wife on this website. Been together eleven years and married nearly seven. Can't be more blessed than that. Every day's an adventure, whether that adventure is out on the town or in a galaxy far far away.
Do you stick mainly with Star Wars RPing, or have you branched out to some of the general RPing scenarios? Which do you prefer, if you have a preference?
I occasionally dabble in other universes, but I always know the reason I'm here. Nothing grips my imagination like Star Wars, and I doubt anything else will.
Who is your favorite character you write on the boards? Who is your favorite that someone else writes?
Taataani. She's funny, smart, a little dangerous, and loves to play mind games with people but rarely makes them painful. As far as other peoples characters it's hard for me to ever skip an Abarai Loki thread. He's written with such respect and it would be so easy to make that character a dour and mirthless experience, but the humanity frames the dish just perfectly.
What RPing story arc do you most want to do, or current one you’d like to complete?
I'm so close to finishing the Dan/Decepis arc. It's been over ten years in the making, and it's one thread away from it's end.
Are you a dog person, or a cat person? (this is v. important)
Used to hate cats. Married a cat lover. Now I love cats.
Thanks for your time!
