Post-Reset

If you want to be a rebel, then why not be a rebel with a cause? The Rebel Alliance are the galaxy's good guys, whose goal it is to topple The Galactic Empire from power and reinstate a Galactic Republic (hence the name 'The Alliance to Restore the Republic'). As the universal underdogs, the Alliance claims no planet or place as its base of operations. Instead, its members are scattered across the galaxy, many of them working near-independently from the main governing body of the Alliance. It is through these isolated individuals that the Alliance is able to establish pockets of support. Though few planets will state outright their support for the cause of the Alliance, for fear of punishment at the hands of the Empire, the group has achieved significant support at a grass rootslevel. People all over the galaxy, dissatisfied with the close-minded tyrannical rule of the Emperor, turn to the Rebellion for hope - hope that one day democracy can be restored, and men and women of every race can live without the fog of fear in their minds. Though fewer in number than their opponents, the dedicated and extremely passionate members of the Rebellion fight night and day for the good of the galaxy.

The Rebel Fleet

Although significantly dwarfed by the vast fleet of The Galactic Empire, the Rebel Fleet is one of the Rebellions most effective weapons and the most powerful weapon available to High Command. Vessels in the fleet were drawn from many shipyards, often being donated by supporters of the cause or sympathetic manufacturers who sold outdated ships at drastically reduced prices, or even captured from successful encounters with the Imperial Fleet.

Starfighter Squadrons

Though accountable to the Alliance Military, rather than the Fleet, the starfighter corps are one of the Rebellions key assets. One of the most well-known and successful starfighter squadrons is Rogue Squadron, joining the likes of the long-since established Valkyrie Squadron as valiant defenders and progressors of the cause defined by the Rebel Alliance.


Alliance Special Forces - "SpecForce"

The Rebel SpecForce - Special Forces - was founded as a guerilla military organisation during the early days of the Rebel Alliance, and is loosely equivalent to an "Army". It was obvious to Alliance Command that the Rebellion would not be able to match the Imperial Army and Stormtrooper Corps one-for-one, so instead trained its personnel as specialists who could employ a variety of tactics that would undercut the advantages of strength in numbers. Various Regiments were established within SpecForce:

  • 1st (SpaceOps) Regiment - sometimes known simply as "Marines", SpaceOps Troopers are trained in combat that involves deployment to or from spaceborne platforms. They are usually adept at extravehicular operations, zero-g combat, and boarding operations. They have a reputation for being the most gung-ho of the SpecForce denominations.
  • 2nd (Pathfinders) Regiment - Rebel Pathfinders are trained to make clandestine drops into enemy territory. They operate undercover to establish beachheads and other resources that might be beneficial to the Rebellion, and to perform Reconnaissance in advance of the arrival of other units. Pathfinders are often experienced Jump Troopers and Paratroopers, able to deploy from high altitude in situations where a secure landing zone could not be guarenteed.
  • 3rd (Urban Combat) Regiment - specialised in combat operations on highly developed and industrialised worlds, the "Urban Guerillas" as they are sometimes known were trained in hand-to-hand and close quarters combat, as well as demolitions. They are easily recognisable by their grey uniforms, intended to blend in easily with urban surroundings.
  • 4th (Wilderness) Regiment - the Wilderness Fighters - or "Rangers" in some circles - were the counterpart of the Urban Combat Specialists, trained to operate in wilderness terrains from the thick forests and jungles found on Yavin IV and Endor to the barren wastes and temperature extremes of Tatooine and Hoth. Usually, particular units would specialise in a narrow band of terrain types: Arctic, Desert, Amphibious, and so forth. The Rangers are the only SpecForce division to maintain an independant Repulsortank unit, without the involvement of any other SpecForce Regiments.
  • 5th (Infiltrators) Regiment - covert operations specialists, the SpecForce Infiltrators were chosen from the most fundementalist anti-Imperial members of the Rebellion, and operated as secret agents, spies, and covert strike teams. The Regiment often worked in conjunction with Alliance Intelligence and Alliance Special Operations.
  • 6th (HWS) Regiment - the Heavy Weapon Specialists Regiment specialised, not surprisingly, in heavy weapons. Troops were generally divided into two groups: "Gunners", who specialised in vehicle-mounted weapons; and "Vanguards", who dealt more with portable heavy weapons such as grenade launchers and anti-mechanized weapons. They were usually deployed in a support capacity, providing anti-personnel and anti-aircraft protection to other SpecForce units.
  • 7th (Technicians) Regiment - made up of several denominations, the Technicians Regiment provided the bulk of the support capacity for SpecForce. Drivers and Pilots provided support in mechanised combat vehicles such as walkers, landspeeders, repulsortanks and airspeeders, although the majority of the combat air support was provided by the Starfighter Corps. Interrogators provided an in-the-field alternative to Alliance Intelligence where required. Specialists in communications and sensor operations assisted with the coordination and control of large-scale operations. Procurement Specialists (aka. "Scroungers") provided the Logistics arm of SpecForce, not only using the local economic infrastructure to acquire the necessary supplies and resources, but also dealing with battlefield salvage. The unit also featured Mechanics and other technicians to maintain and operate the variety of craft and equipment utilised by SpecForce as a whole.

Rebel Intelligence

Rebel (or Alliance) Intelligence is a branch of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. It is their responsibility to obtaini and analyze military, diplomatic and economic information and report such information to the relevant branches of the Alliance. In simple terms, they are the Rebellion's spies. Members of Alliance Intelligence are stationed throughout the known Galaxy, acting as the eyes and ears of the Rebellion.

The department is divided into three main sub departments - Intentions, Operations, and Counter-Intelligence. The Intentions department specialize in equipment, interrogation, analysis and cryptology, spending much of their time 'behind the lines' (so to speak). The Operations department deal with the co-ordination and execution of passive and systems operations - plainly, they plan and organize the majority of the departments field work. The Counter-Intelligence department deals solely in retrieval and security, making their job perhaps the most perilous. They are the men and women dispatched into uncertain territories to rescue or secure lost agents, lost cargo and other items of importance.

Director Dasquian Belargic and Assistant-Director Grace Van-Derveld head the Intelligence department as a whole. Beneath them are the sub-department directors, each of whom has their own assistant director. All members of Alliance Intelligence are considered 'Operatives'. Members may receive, within their chosen sub-department of specialization, other titles to supplement this - but the rank of Operative will always come first. In this all members are equal. Unlike other branches of the Rebellion rank and hierarchy are not strictly enforced.
